and in Federal Courts across Missouri and Kansas
At the law offices of Bruce C. Houdek, P.C., I have been trying criminal cases for 45 years. As a former assistant U.S. Attorney, former federal public defender, former law clerk to a federal judge, and private practice defense attorney, I have developed my skills over years of involvement with the federal criminal justice system.
I represent clients charged in federal courts in both Kansas and Missouri and handle federal criminal appeals before six different circuit courts of appeal. I also represent criminal clients in the Missouri state court system. If you have been charged with a federal crime in Missouri or Kansas or are facing Missouri criminal charges, contact my law office now for a free consultation.
I focus my criminal defense practice primarily on assisting those charged with federal criminal offenses and white collar crime. If you have been charged with or are being investigated for embezzlement, false Medicare or Medicaid claims, bribery of a public official, drug trafficking, a federal firearms offense, child pornography, bank robbery, or any other serious felony offense I have the experience and skill to protect your rights in federal court.

People charged with crimes—especially those charged in federal courts and those whose cases involve activity that is criminal under both state and federal law—are facing a complex legal situation. Federal laws and sentencing guidelines change quickly, and state and federal prosecutors do coordinate their cases to obtain the maximum penalty. I am a member of a number of organizations dedicated to protecting the rights of those charged with crimes, and I stay informed on the many changes in the law.
As a criminal defense lawyer, I have been an advocate on behalf of the people I represent inside and outside the courtroom. As a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, I have lobbied the Missouri Legislature and United States Congress for laws protecting the civil rights of all Americans and laws favorable to those charged with crimes. Among my qualifications:
- Able to represent clients in the United States District Courts for the Districts of Kansas, Western District of Missouri, and Eastern District of Missouri
- Admitted to United States Circuit Courts of Appeals for the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th, and the District of Columbia circuits
